Would you like to make a difference, learn new skills and become part of a friendly local team?
The 1st Camden Scout Group has several volunteering opportunities available. You do not need previous Scouting experience, and you do not have to commit to helping every week.
Whether you can help regularly, occasionally or behind the scenes, your time and skills could make a real difference.
Scouting is delivered by teams. Each team is led by a Team Leader and supported by Team Members who work together to provide safe, enjoyable and exciting activities for our young people.
You can find out more about how our local teams work here:
Squirrel Scout Volunteer Team Members
Our Squirrel Scouts are doing very well, and we would love to welcome some additional volunteers to the team.
Squirrels are aged four to six, and their meetings are full of games, crafts, stories and simple activities.
Volunteers can help with:
- Setting up and clearing away
- Running games and activities
- Supporting individual children
- Helping to plan future meetings
- Making sessions safe, welcoming and fun
The Squirrel Section meets on Miondat at 4:0pm
Beaver Scout Volunteer Team Members
Our Beaver Colony is growing, and we are looking for friendly volunteers to join the team.
Beavers are aged six to eight and enjoy games, crafts, outdoor activities, challenges and learning new skills.
You could help by:
- Supporting games and activities
- Helping young people complete badges
- Preparing equipment
- Sharing your hobbies or skills
- Helping the team plan future meetings
You do not need to lead the whole meeting. There are plenty of small but important ways to help.
Cub Scout Volunteer Team Members
Our Cub Pack is busy and active, so additional support would help us keep meetings safe, enjoyable and varied.
Cubs are aged eight to ten and a half. Their programme includes team games, outdoor activities, practical skills, crafts, challenges and trips.
As part of the team, you could help with:
- Running or supporting activities
- Supervising small groups
- Preparing equipment
- Helping with badges and challenges
- Supporting trips, camps and special events
Even helping once or twice a month can make a real difference.
Scout Volunteer Team Members
Our Scout Troop is doing very well, and we are looking for additional adults to join the volunteer team.
Scouts are aged ten and a half to fourteen and take part in a wide range of activities, including outdoor adventures, practical skills, games, community projects, trips and camps.
You could support the team by:
- Helping to plan and run meetings
- Sharing a hobby, profession or practical skill
- Supporting activities and challenges
- Helping with trips, camps and events
- Encouraging young people to develop confidence and independence
You do not need to know everything about Scouting. Training, guidance and support will be provided.
Young Leaders
Are you aged between 14 and 18?
You can volunteer with our Squirrel, Beaver, Cub or Scout Sections as a Young Leader.
Young Leaders help to run games and activities, support younger members and become an important part of the Section team.
It is a great opportunity to:
- Build confidence
- Develop leadership skills
- Gain useful experience
- Support your local community
- Complete the volunteering section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
You will receive support and guidance from the adult volunteers around you.
Join Our Board of Trustees
Not every volunteer role involves attending weekly meetings.
Our Board of Trustees helps ensure the Scout Group is well-managed, financially secure, and able to provide safe and enjoyable activities.
We are currently looking for:
- A Trustee Treasurer
- Three additional Trustees
These roles may suit people with experience or an interest in finance, administration, governance, fundraising, property, community work or general business management.
Training and support are available.
Social Media and Website Volunteers
Could you help us improve our online presence?
We are looking for volunteers who can support our social media accounts and website.
This could include:
- Updating website pages
- Sharing news and photographs
- Promoting events
- Helping us recruit new members and volunteers
- Improving how the Group communicates with families and the local community
This is a flexible role that can largely be completed from home.
You do not need to manage everything. Even occasional help with updates, photographs or short posts would be valuable.
You Do Not Need to Be an Expert
Many people worry that they lack the right skills or enough spare time to volunteer.
In reality, everyone brings something useful to the team.
You might be good at crafts, cooking, sport, DIY, photography, administration, technology, or simply talking to young people and helping them feel included.
You can volunteer regularly, occasionally or behind the scenes. We will work with you to find a role that fits your interests and availability.
All adult volunteer roles are subject to the Scouts’ required vetting, learning and safeguarding processes.
